Having just begun a hope to move from an in-house IT/SEO (more IT) to a more freelance position this is good info. It is nice to hear people talking about SEO work itself.

Another big minus for corporate SEO is that you have to be careful not to become complacent in your skills. It’s easy to do the same thing over and over again when you don’t have the fear of finding your next contract to keep you on top of your game.

By far the biggest benefit. I work at least 6-70 hours as a independent SEO.

While I appreciate my full time very much, I love my solo jobs. I like the freedom too much to ever quit.

Now…if we can just find a way to get a sales team for freelancers…
